Deker 3,478
Hi guys got everything in place now to send back to my firearms licencing team. I was thinking of putting in a little letter in for them aswell but im stuck on what to put down. I have so far put down who i am and that i volunterly gave up my licence up 12 months ago and that my circumstances have changed in that time and that im willing to accept any terms or conditions that they see fit. Is there anything else i should put down that may help? Who knows really, by all means cover the past, they will have a good idea anyway, but I wouldn't grovel too much......... just my opinion...... it will depend what the FEO had for breakfast no doubt! 1 Quote Link to post
alan81 110
cover why you gave up your guns where you were mentally then and now be straight forward, honest and as Deker said don't grovel. I don't know if this is possible for you but I made an appointment to see the super in my area rather than send a letter. a 5 minute face to face chat is better than any letter the local garda told me that. Craig83 52
My FAO told me that at any time I feel like I shouldn't have ownership to ring him and let him know. (I.e. Coming back from the sand box) The process for getting them back was a quick email and he'd come visit me. The fact you addressed your problems openly is a big plus factor for responsible ownership. Lancashire Hunter 22
Well took on all your advice that you all gave. Sent the forms off last wensday. So hopefully here something in about a week or so. Sent a little letter in like was advised kept it short and sweet but also trying to see if possable to see the chief constable to have a chat face to face as he should be able to have a better judgment of me. Im not going to hold my breath pray and ask for a miracle but all i can do is try and if told no then i will re apply again a few months after. But thank you so much for your help and advice i really appreciate your help. Quote Link to post

But i have this niggly feeling there just going send cheque back and say thanks but no thanks dont know why its just a sense im having. Will see soon though. In your case it wouldn't hurt to be a member of a shooting association as some of them will give out good firearms advice. P.S you held your license for x years and were completely safe and responsible, you responsibly gave the guns up while you sought help for feeling down, you got over the illness and now you want to resume your hobby. You sound pretty responsible, not the next derik bird. Good luck 2 Quote Link to post
