Rifle Recommendations

I have recently applied for my first firearms and my local firearms officer came round today and told me it was all sorted and to expect my cert in the next 3-4 weeks. I have been granted .22 Rimfire (and possibly .17 but he didn't specify). I need a good lamping rifle, and have been shooting with a Ruger 10/22. I quite like the semi auto, but what would you guys recommend, taking into account that my budget for the rifle alone is about £300, or around £500 with accessories (scope, lamp, bipod, mod etc).

 

I would say that I would only buy synthetic stock however, for personal preference.

I've got a 10/22 and really like it (don't be put off by people who have ever owned one)

 

CZ are a good cheap rifle I have one in 17 HMR and it's great quality for the money.

 

£300 will get you a decent rifle no problems.

Is it better to buy new or S/H? Been looking on Guntrader and there isn't too much decent in Ruger around me. Like I said, would prefer a Synthetic stock, although I am warming to the idea of furniture.

In rimfire I've got a 10/22 and a CZ452. Both excellent tools.

I have a cz 452 .22 WMR and I cant fault the gun in any way its a very well made and accurate gun its also nice and light for carrying around. my first rifle was a savage 93R .17 HMR another well made and accurate rifle but a bit heavy it was the heavy barrel version but im sure the light barrel version is grand.

second hand cz bolt action for that money you will get a quality one ........ 5 and 10 round mag.....

ideal for lamping and unlike a 10/22 it wont jam on ya .........

This is my new cz452 which I paid about £800 for but that was everything including 10 shot mags, hard case and everything else.

 

The gun was about £350 so I'm sure you could get a new set up for about £500.

 

If I could change anything I would rather have bought a fixed mag scope...

 

Very happy with my cz, and would recommend one.

this is my CZ 452 lux .22 WMR with a 3-9x40 Nikko Stirling game king scope and a Harris bipod the hole set up cost E580 new that's about £500 or less. I would recommend this gun to anyone its great.

My black synthetic one has killed 1000`s of rabbits, and a few foxes etc. I`d be lost without it.

 

Not a fan of semi autos, they WILL jam.

Cz as those above .For that money you will get a decent s/hand set up , i changed my 10/22 (bought on a whim ) back to cz last year , rifle/mod/niko plat scope & sling as new for 220 ...not synthetic though. The 10/22 did jam !!
