The chances of the dog running again are increased enormously if you do. Not saying that it will for certain, but as you obviously care a lot about the dog, give it the best possible chance by seeing someone who treats this sort of injury every day. Pet vets are fine for bits and pieces: infections, disease control etc, but the bio-mechanics of the running dog are nearly always beyond their experience and scope. Any vet can take a toe off a pet dog which isn't an athlete, and it won't really matter if the dog ends up flat-footed or unable to properly run. It's a bit like asking a GP to perform advanced orthopaedic surgery! 3 Quote Link to post

I couldn't agree more Skycat, I learnt this lesson the hard way thank god the dog was insured Simon Gower who Socks recommended I have heard is very good.
