Small Carp Into Bigger Carp , Advise Please .

Recommended Posts

I have recently stocked a small pond {30 meters x 40 meters} and 3 meters deep at one end with 1 meter shallows at the other . I have stocked it with carp , about 100 in all , rangeing from fingerlings to about 8 oz and 4 of about 2llb . Question , can the pond hold more fish ? What is the best food for them to grow them on ? How much food and how often ? Do you continue to feed through the winter ? Any advice is welcome , i am new to fish keeping .

I dont know the answers, but another question is what was already in the pond? Much natural food already exist?

Have you allowed for a mortality rate, natural and predation?

I am feeding soaked wheat and maize, & will get some pellet in the future.

The pond was an old flight pond that had silted up , its fed by a small stream and is dammed with an out flow pipe . we had a digger on the estate reinstateing tracks , and i got the driver to dig out the pond, so there are no other fish in it apart from what ive stocked and i have not noticed any mortality . Because of the relative newness of the pond i dont think there is that much natural food yet . But i have seen pond skaters , dragon and damsel flys and little nymphs darting about !

Pellet ( high protein) when the water's warm. Wheat, Maize etc ( low protein) in cold water, in the winter.

I'm afraid if you want good results, you will have to do some research via Google
