How Train A Dog

Recommended Posts

You wanna ask in the dog section mate , this is the ferreting section so people will normally answer your questions about ferrets and not bother if you asking about something else. Try the search as well someone would most prob of asked this question before and that search is quite handy

To be honest mate a ferreting dog is trained by experience

As long as the basics are there you can't go far wrong recall retreive stay and broken to all stock and ferrets

Then just take the dog out as much as you can and it will learn for its self pop the ferret In and watch it happen the dog will soon learn that ferret in means rabbit out

Atb and good luck

Tom ;)

showed my spaniel my young polecat Jill the other day, had the poley in my hand for the pair of them to sniff each other, looked away for a second and when I looked back the spaniel had the ferrets head in it's mouth!! Ferret was a bit on the damp side but not bothered, didn't even hiss or bite, spaniel chastised and a bit sheepish but fortunately has a very soft mouth. My Staffy is another kettle of fish all together, doesn't try to mouth them is happy to have them crawling all over him but occasionally licks his lips in a worrying manor, I'm hoping this is just excitement as he'll be coming ferreting this season, he has a great nose and a surprising turn of speed when it comes to bolters although he lacks staying power. He definitely knows if there is anything at home when it comes to warrens but then he's been around them since he was a pup and loves running the black current rows, always teaming with bunnies!!
