Welcome to the section.   You sound like you're a cracking shot buddy . 40 to 50 yard cluster groups pretty easy . Its nice to have someone with that skill join us . I for one are always up to l

Interesting post.   The next time I'm on the plains in SA I'll leave the muzzle break at home. I did wonder why the PHs were giving me funny looks.

Interesting !!

I was lucky enough to be a guest on a safari camp near Zumbo on the Zambezi, the clients were hunting Buffalo and I got to go fishing and out after camp meat, mainly impala, while they were not using the cruiser. It was in '99 and I loved it. I have also done a bit on a more informal basis in Zimbabwe and hunted, unsuccessfully, for Kudu, with the Masaii in Tanzania using an American civil war era muzzle loader. I lived in Zanzibar for a while but never hunted there. if I ever get back to Tanzania I have an offer to hunt bush pig with dogs and a spear which I would be very keen to do. Sadly real life interferes with these things!

Villaman, If you plan on having a dig at anyone regarding the shooting of the fox then by all means direct your sarcasm at me as I was the one who chose to take the shot which killed it instantly. I see you have chosen to ignore the fact that I hold a Professional Culling License which entitles me to use any calibre when shooting game as well as other prohibited means ie: use of an artificial light and shooting from a vehicle etc. The fox was not shot in the UK and whether you believe me or not but i have culled well over 500 antelope up to and including Kudu using a .22 rimfire both in LR and WMR. I have also shot buffalo and hippo with both a .308 Win and 30-06Sprg, I have also been present when a colleague on Nat. Parks shot an Elephant with a 30-06Sprg...all killed cleanly and all shot for various reasons including injury, sickness and to prevent the spread of disease! We once had a new group of buffalo bulls released on my Park that where later suspected of carrying corridor disease, luckily they had ear tags so where identifiable and we were instructed to shoot them on sight, while dropping off game scouts one morning we came across two buffalo bulls lying on the sand track road one stood up and turned to face the vehicle and the tag was clearly visible I had no hunting rifle with me but did have my FN assault rifle with std ghost ring iron sights I shot both bulls on that road within seconds of each other both single brain shots with std military 7.62 ammo. Not ideal but I knew the bullets would do the job if I put them in the right place! Villaman I can tell you now that if I was carrying my PCP and I came across an animal that needed dispatching and I could get myself into a position to cleanly take the shot I would without hesitating, others in similar positions may not but I back my experience to know what limits can be pushed regarding the terminal performance of a projectile. So go ahead feel free to have a dig at me anytime you want and leave other innocent parties out of your sarcastic chirps, I have always followed the old saying of "if you have nothing nice to say rather keep it to yourself". It is beyond me why you have a go at Matt when you don't even know the bloke!
