Another Experience

Well I woke up at 4.30am this morning so thought I'd slip out of bed and get a few hours on the new permission.

 

Didn't have much luck but just made myself familiar with land, on way home I called in at my big permission.

 

On route up lane I could see 3 or 4 bunnies but by time I'd got out car they'd gone.

 

I then walked up lane and through woods where I'd seen the mink on Thursday night and once again nothing about.

 

I then walked through gardens and into next wood, it was about 6.30 so just about light, then all of a sudden something come running at me I first thought it was a rabbit on a death wish, but it was a fox, then straight behind it another fox come running towards me, it looked like they were either chasing each other or I'd spooked them, they did a lap around me and to be fair I didn't know what the hell to do so I just stomped foot on floor and a loud noise and they ran off.

 

I've just got home to change my pants haha

 

I'm sure you've all had experiences like this but it's all new to me.

Sounds to me like your permission has a lot of game on buddy that's a good sign, if you ever get your fac you no that there's some game to take with it, I'm from doncaster also and can't get permission anywhere round here, well done buddy

Thanks Mate, only 3rd week on this permission, i'd struggled until now to get anything in Doncaster area, with the exception of a small permission in Drakeholes but it's not good through summer grass and weeds about 7ft high I was standing on more rabbits when stalking

 

Think people have just got pi**ed off with my flyers haha, and I did wish I had a RF in my hands this morning

Once I was lying in the strawbales in a barn at night (alone, with my trusty 97k, unfortunatly) waiting for some rats that maybe came trough the barn door, when a stone marten run right over my back, he was not aware of my presence, and also myself did not It was a bit scary to feel my blood freeze on that moment

The first time I lamped alone without Bigmac, I was in some thick woods, circling round and put the beam on a sheep, 2 big red eyes looking at me I shat my pants.. I was like "what the hell are you doing in the woods?? get back in the field"....I went home pretty sharp after that...

Only thing with the camo these days, suppose it works both ways the animals you need to see you don't either so more close encounters haha

The first time I lamped alone without Bigmac, I was in some thick woods, circling round and put the beam on a sheep, 2 big red eyes looking at me I shat my pants.. I was like "what the hell are you doing in the woods?? get back in the field"....I went home pretty sharp after that...

Haha can just picture it "shit" it's a man eating cat... Oh wait a minute it's a sheep lol.

 

I'm still adjusting to night hunting the mink totally spooked me i heard the noise in bush so prepared to take my bunny then that bloody thing come at me, I just wasn't expecting it suppose anything could be out and about.

 

I need to man up haha

Yeah, not too keen on being alone at night, everything looks EVIL through lamps, especially red lamps. It doesn't help that on part of the permission that Bigmac & Vislauk let me join them on, is an old mortuary....I mean, FFS, they knocked down the hospital but left the adjoining mortuary up? WHY???? And why does Bigmac INSIST on walking me past it 5 times a night? haha.

Just good to know it's not just me, but mortuary is extreme stuff i'd spend more time looking over my shoulder .

 

I've been going early morning last few weekends and really enjoyed it but looking forward to next night out, just booked Friday off work so Thursday night looking good

I was laying in wait for the rabbits to come out and was laying along a fence line it was just turning dark when i herd some thing and then heavy breathing close and i mean close i turned around and there was a stag antlers and all looking over the fence at me about two foot away just about shit my pants and jumped out of my skin atvbmac :thumbs:
