BORDERSCOT 3,816
I would say that with age comes maturity, but keep a very close eye on your dogs really study them, and get to know what they are about, because they are studying your every move, once you understand each other, as in my case, that bond was achieved.. But age and maturity certainly don't guarantee someone will be a good dog man or indeed have a special bond with their dog/s....that much is apparent reading half the shit from some who post on this site... No fool like an old fool eh.... Just because someone has had dogs for 40 + years doesn't automatically make them a good dog man....some of the biggest tits I have seen in this game have had dogs for decades.... On the flip side of the coin...some of the best lads I have seen are young, haven't been at it overly long but have a deep and innovative understanding of what they and their dogs are about.... 6 Quote Link to post

mackay 3,328
I've met a good few people who think because they've had a ton of dogs through their hands that they qualify for the title dogman, some even boast of the amount they've owned wearing it like a badge of pride and a lot of young green people coming into the game are in awe of them and look to them for advice. Last people to be looking to in my opinion. Nothing is written in stone and dogs sometimes don't make the grade required, but a good dogman in the genuine sense will the guy who has had fewer dogs and even fewer failures. Quote Link to post

I agree 100% Here's a prime example from a couple of years back - what a tit....I often think of this post...total disgrace... This fellah's probably had another 2 dozen since he posted this.... Or he'll be into tropical fish/reptiles or will be into origami... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/186062-the-season-is-nearly-at-an-end/ Quote Link to post

Big bald beautiful 1,231
Good bond everytime...or just buy a lurcher and feed it and treat it like a kenneled greyhound. Well fed, looked after but no bond there? Quote Link to post

Good luck with the dog.... 1 Quote Link to post
