Best Torch

Recommended Posts

I don't think any torch will really be up to the job (not for lurchers anyway) would do for close range shots with airguns etc. definitely not on a long run or a misty night. ive always stuck to the lightforce 170 striker lamp you can also get the tracer 170 just a copy of the lightforce but a tenner cheaper.

You can just about lamp the dogs using a cluson clu briter but the beam is b*****d tight so its easy to lose the quarry in the beam. Its ok for an subtle evening stroll but wouldn't use it all the time

Yes, and the clulite led is way too tight. Fenix tk41 good......youtube it.....think it's going outdoors that do a couple of videos on it, the Shorter of the two vids shows you what it's like in the field. This is the one I have, but you can get some much more powerful than this. Some with quality aspherical lenses have amazing beams, but they can be very focused with not much spill think dereelight night master is one.

Word of warning though if you get one that runs on 18650 batteries makes sure they they're good quality protected ones and use a good charger....do research about these batteries before using them. There safe if you look after them, but can go bang if you don't....like a pipe bomb.

The tk41 runs on 8 AA batteries...your best using Sanyo eneloops xxx...if you go down this route.

72mm aspheric lens sat here and I cant find a bezel to fit it...lol..it will be a runner one day.

I was also looking at the headlights on a new Toyota the other day..one of the glasses is a mint looking aspheric lens..i bet one of them with a bit of customising would make a serious lamp.. Next time Im at the scarp yard im going to have a good mooch about the car headlights.

as for torches.. i still use a tiablo A9 with aspheric kit.. had a few bunnies on the odd walk in small pastures etc etc.
