Mink On Patrol

Recommended Posts

Went out lamping Thursday and all the usual spots where bunnies are, we're all dead it was very strange.... Then I spotted some eyes glowing and it turns out it was a mink, so I'm assuming this bad boy scared all the bunny rabbits off.

I'm new to hunting so wanted to review when I got home, I've Only been out 4 times on my own and i'm learning so much.

From what I've been reading I should of taken the little shit out, maybe next visit.

Should of taken the shot .The F*****g antis who let them out should be shot as well.

Had nothing but trouble with them back in the 90s when my mate had two mink farms about 150 of them came down one Sunday and tried to get in and the police did F**k all ,in fact they said if we did any thing to them we would be in trouble.

Absolutely right! You must shoot these b@stard things! They are utterly ruthless and fearless hunters who will not fear you and even have a go for you, if you get too close or bugger up the shot and wound them! This is why I keep my HW80 .22 on FAC. There are a lot around my permission which has a lovely stretch of the river Went running through it. They have armour tough hides and they can move like lightning, so you need a fast, precise head shot with a solid hit. My old '80 really sorts em out!

They'll basically take on anything for food and will kill indiscriminately; and they have almost decimated the little water vole populations who are a pretty inoffensive creature. The mink prey on these defenceless mammals and drive out other riverbank dwellers. I hunt and shoot them whenever there is a sighting on my permission.

You live and learn in this sport. Now bag the murdering vermin!

There are a couple of Hawks and a Kite around Bigmac & Vislauk's permission, spoils the fun when they are out....everything is so skittish. Good on you getting out alone...just stay out of the shadows :)
