Lady Lampers

Recommended Posts

Hi Countrymaid, I'm another female although I hesitate to call myself a lady B)

I grew up in a dairy farming family with a few poachers on the side and knew ratting terriers and working collies first. I now have 2 lurchers, both rescues and have just (fingers crossed) gained my first permission on a local organic smallholding. No other half so I pretty much do as I please :D

hi I'm a female too

i have four dogs two Grey's (rescues)

and two lurcher's 1 bullx 1 collie cross

currently have 6 of my own ferrets and 7 rescues waiting for new homes

two horses i pure bread Arab (used for endurance )

and an ex racehorse turned happy happy hacker (for my Hubie)

I'm in to lamping ferreting and a bit of shooting

but my entire life is on hold at the mo due to having a eight month old baby and Hubie serving in Afghanistan

my days are taking up by keeping all the animals exercised clean feed and healthy (the locals know me as horse n hound ) as i walk them all together with my son strapped to my back then ride when hes sleeping.

Hubie's back in October so my season will start then

how do you find the time to work 18 dogs or are some of them retired some in training some to young etc.?

Oh aye they are the biggest problem here too.Dont mind drivers going past fast just as long as they go wide so if horse spins then youve room. Raking about the farm ans staring into house. Someyimes wish i could find out where they live and traspe through their gardens see how they like it. Meet some nice ones too though and if they are a good bunch i will give them some eggs to take home.

I read a story some years ago about a Farmer who found a couple picknicking on his front lawn, somehow he found out where they lived and returned the favour, took a folding table ,a chair and snap bag and pitched up in their front garden, they were less than amused.

Yes there is just something about watching a hound chasing something, even better when you watch hounds with in a pack working.

go for light weight fabric one i got mine from babie r us its a bruin 3 way carrier worn on the front toward you from birth or infront away from you at three months (handy if you are on your own as you can still deal with the baby. or on your back from three months only up to 10kg in weight but i loved mine i could step between two strands of wire with him attached unlike the big bulky framed ones and its fully washable.it cost about 25 quid, i was given a framed one by a friend and i hate it. best of luck with the new little one. and the dogs etc
