Ive decided to start a diary on my male harris hawks new season, ive had him going out of the moult again for little under a week but i wanted to start the diary on a kill,   So with the bird weigh

Sorry for not updating the thread in a while, ive been poorly lately with an infection in the bowels, so i havent been out with the hawk in weeks due to the crippling stomach pains, Anyway im ok now

You've done right by the hawk, get another one and carry on. Early next season get it up here for a few days on the dales, we should be able to get it entered easily enough on a few dumb young bunnie

Well my bird wasnt on his best weight due to the other days feed up, so he didnt get anything, however he did pull a clump of feathers out a pigeon, just failed to bring it down.

My mates caught 3 various

And hawkingyorkshires struggled to realise what the static targets actually were so only flew them when they moved, by which time they had already gone

Had a great few hours out with hawkingyorkshire,

On the short walk to his house the hawk had a chase on a squirrel.

Once we met up my ferret bolted a rabbit out the first set which both birds chased but was bet to cover

Then my bird gave a big cock pheasant a scare by almost taking its head off, the cover was too thick though and he just couldnt get that 1 inch closer to smash it

Another rabbit was bolted by the ferret and both birds had a great chase, but just ran out of field to fly it, and it ran the side of a hedge and i think both birds expected it to hop into the thick cover so they didnt fly it as well as they could.

Hawkingyorkshires male then got a foot on a pheasant at the side of a stream but just couldnt bring it down so unfortunately lost it

Mine had a chase on a rabbit and actually pinned it, only silly bollock here didnt get through the cover fast enough and he lost it

So even though we didnt get any kills, the weather was great, both birds got a decent chase on game and the good company topped it off, it was one of those days were it was just great to be out, a kill would have only been a bonus

Kill number 13:

Went for a quick fly on the back field, saw a rabbit run into a hedge where i know there isnt any holes under it, so i kicked the hedge and the rabbit came out the other side, the bird set off the fist and took it after a 40 yard chase

But before all this there was a group of 4 crows in the middle of the field, the bird set off from the tree and got withing a metre of them before they got up and flew off, the bird was so unlucky and i was gutted for him

Nice one mate, I was out last night drinking with family so I nursed a hangover until. 2.30 before I ventured out. My hawk missed a squirrel, a rat and a handful of rabbits. She has never missed so many opportunities from a hours flying. I think it was just bad luck as she was trying hard enough crashing into cover etc.

Just how it goes sometimes mate, i was gutted about the crows, he flew so hard for them and i was convinced he was about to get his first, wasnt to be though
