Hi all

At what age would you take young ferrets out rabbiting, was thinking

of going out next month but the jills will only be about 5 months old and

still full of mischief (but do the ever grow up).

I personally would leave any kits from this year till christmas time, thats just me though

I usually wait til they are at least 16 weeks or so but thats just me.

mine is only 15 weeks and i took him out the first time yesterday and caught 9 rabbits not a bad days hunt for a 15 week out but he loves it hes addicted lol

should be ok to start next month as long as you keep to smallish sets,i tend to ferret small hedge row sets when breaking them into the game.i'l be starting there brother and sister next month

I'll be starting my lot on a one holer, so they get used to the environment, clear the set and let them enter to explore.

Thanks guys,will leave it for a month or two yet as there is no real rush, only going

to be doing it to catch the odd bunny for ferret food now and again.

Dell the kits are comeing on great and still not so much as a nip from them just playfull mouthing.

glad to hear there doing well,plenty of handling mate and they'l soon get used to you, my 2 still give the odd we playful mouth when i'm teasing them nowt serious

I started mine at around six months of age, let them have a good rag on the first rabbit they bolted, worked like a charm.
