breay 0 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Share Posted August 27, 2007 due to this fine weather we have had in the last 3 months every where is water logged and mud is all around, ive been trying to keeep my lurchers coat as clean as possible but he has other ideas and now it is alittle matted, washing him continously hasnt solved the problem. and am grooming him weekly with a dematting brush is helping is there any other ways of getting rid of the nots and mat. skycat 6,173 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Share Posted August 27, 2007 If they are really bad knots then you'll have to cut them out, or get a steel comb and starting at the end of the knot furthest from the dog's body just tease them out strand of hair by strand: takes ages but once you've done it a couple of times a week with a comb will keep it OK. ferret15 0 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Share Posted August 27, 2007 pop along to your local horse supplies (tack shop) they sell a product called mane and tail or show sheen its designed to help keep their tails knot free but i have used it on my dogs before and it relay helps keep the knots out and i found that it sort of coats the hair so mud grass seeds and so on doesn't stick to the hair. a bottle will cost you about a fiver and if you use it as a fine spray will last you ages and it makes them shiny too Quote Link to post Share on other sites
