Getting Out Of Control Now With Permissions

Recommended Posts

I've just got off the phone "again" from a nice lady wanting me to clear bunny rabbits off her land, so another new permission within 2 weeks what the hell is going off ?!?!

This time last month I was sat in my back garden stroking my HW100 plinking only dreaming of some land to hunt on, like many other’s struggling to secure permission, I read all the articles online etc but still never got anywhere. The best advice was on this forum which was never give up and something will come up, so I kept going and going.

I'm getting so much interest since creating some basic flyers on powerpoint and wanted to share what I did to hopefully help others, I did another post last week when I secured my first permission so don’t want to bore everyone to death just want to share my experience.

After letters and door knocking for 6+ months + all last year with no success, I needed to change tactics….

I started by created a simple slide on powerpoint which would stand out but was straight to the point including:

  • Service I was offering
  • Insurance details
  • Equipment I will be using
  • Any other qualifications you may have i.e. H&S qualifications which would add extra weight showing the land owner you are a responsible person with health and safety being a top priority
  • Contact details

I printed the flyers off and went knocking on doors handing them over with quick intro + posting if nobody answered, I also converted file to PDF and sent emails to every company in my area… it was actually my best permission which I made first contact with owner via email so all this about face to face is essential is not always true some people like to review in their own time and discuss with partners etc.

I’ve attached flyer to give you an idea what I did, if anyone wants the actual powerpoint I’ll gladly send if you inbox me you email address, obviously I’ve doctored my contact details so don’t try calling me lol.

Anyway I’ve got to go to my new permission Saturday and I’ve been told “bring your gun” their everywhere hahaha :boogy:

I made up some of them.... posted them through doors.... rang a LOAD of farms.... knocked on doors....

They all seem interested.... until you mention dogs.....

All too happy to let some numpty....whos just bought an air rifle out of the local fishing shop...loose on their land.....

But frown upon...any decent dog lads.... who work hard...week in-week out...all year round...to keep their dogs going....

There are the ones....who find it fascinating....but theres 10 times more.... whod rather the rabbits eat away their living...than let you on....

EDITED: just realised this is in arigun sect...thought it was in general section

Ferreting....if your going to get permission....ferreting...is the way your going to get it...

Harmless...quiet....fun to watch etc.... from a landowners point of view.... a kids sport  ...

Once ferreting...introduce dog.... then go from there...

Its a great flyer mate and a good way to do it.. I may give it a bash myself.

On your flyer, I would specify that your using an air rifle as some (especially older farmers) may not know what pre-charged refers to and may not like the idea of someone they dont know roaming with a cf or rf where as might be more open if they know its air. Just a thought

I know one of lads who I go out with struggles with dogs too, it is crazy how they would prefer guns to dogs on land

I did originally have air rifle but had some comments that (some) farmers still see air rifles has "toys" so left it for discussion when contact was made.

I find it perculiar too....

But the hype and focus being on poaching by the likes of the ARSEpca....doesnt seem to look at rifle owners.....you only ever see dogs....

And joe public.... who hasnt got his own mind...

Is easily led...and manipulated.... like sheep....

Cheers for the tips.

So did you make a flyer or actually make presentation with powerpoint?

Did you target farms? If so how did you find their address?

I designed on PowerPoint then printed off on some card, A4 size, I also put in a envelope.

I started delivering from my village working working approximate 3 miles out hitting every farm, golf course, fisheries, horse stables, large estates, halls etc etc basically anywhere with land.

I used google to find other places, by adding golf courses nr Doncaster and using link to websites.

A lot of work needed but all worth it in the end.
