My bitch will just run to wherever I point the beam, handy as if she misses what I slip her on and something else is about I can just lamp that and she'll head that way.

And to answer your question I had the exact same thing happen to me, got there and it had vanished lol

Something I will never do is slip the dog on another rabbit until its back to me mate you'll just encourage her to hunt up each to their own and you'll probably get more game in the bag that way but for me if a dog misses I like it straight back to my heel as soon as it misses then ill see what's about I never let a dog chase on the way back from a chase until its been to heel

A dog that can't take a squater to me ain't a very good lamp dog regardless the distance the slip. Obvious in crap conditions 9 times out of 10 it will lift but if it doesn't it should be dead really imo. Been out with alot of dogs that point and slip type that need movement. , but not my type of dog. Half I bet if you pointed them behind with beam pointing forward they'd run to end of field opposite direction to the beam. I can't understand if out enough how a dog can't use it brain enough to work beam well.

Regards the op I've done it enough shined a spot thought certain I seem one to . send the dog to that spot and nowt be there. Tbh prob do it at least once a night haha

long slips at squatters can lead to loss of teeth  i have lamped some very rabbity looking rocks and even a coke can in disguise :laugh::laugh:

Aye I remember slipping my big Beddy x on a rabbit well over 100 yards she was just clicking to the lamping game was very impressed with the way she was sailing out the beam the rabbit and the rock was about 6 feet apart couple inch of grass in a silage field big smile on my face and she struck the rock lol she still caught the rabbit but f**k me I could hardly hold the lamp.

Wouldn't be the first time I've slipped a dog on a tuft on grass or a woodcock on a windy night either lol strange how the wind in your eyes and darkness plays tricks with your eyes.

little owls are the bane of my life

Hedgehogs are mine them spines can cause damage when there's abit of speed involved ...
