STUNTMAN 552
I have a nice bitch named Gwen that has just come off pups and has had a long lay-off, so I decided to start getting her back in shape for the up coming fall/winter hunting season.. Saturday I needed to do a little training with the foxhounds and after that was taken care of I took Gwen out to do a little woodchuck hunting before it got to hot. I was with a friend who had to terriers and his Airedale that is used as a draw-dog. We hit a patch of woods next to a bean field and started checking dens with not much luck. As my friend went ahead I checked another part and fell behind as I jogged to catch up I lost track of my dog and begun to look for her. My friend yelled out in the middle of the field and I ran to him and found out that his dogs were in on a skunk and his MK3 just broke and he can’t locate the dogs. I started to poke around and one of his terriers came out throwing up, then the other….lucky I said. Back to Gwen, I went to the last place I remember seeing her and started back tracking with my box on the highest setting. Located her in a den, dug the chuck went home as it was hot as hell by this time. Sunday we were invited to hunt in Maryland on a big farm with a lot of foxes. We casted the hounds before the sun came up and had one jumped and in the ground before 6:30a.m... By the time we got there on foot the hounds had lifted and started another fox and we never found that one. This fox had some juice and stayed up till 10:00am were he went to ground. When we got there we entered a terrier that I bred but my friend owns and he did a horrible ½ assed job and was pulled. One of the collars went bad on us as we were crossing a big river to keep up and it had gotten soaked. Gwen was entered and we located her after some time at 8-10 foot. We started the dig and by 2:30pm we broke through and Gwen was pulled and my friend’s terrier put in and he just planed quit on us. The fox was another 2-3 foot farther up and when we pulled the terrier he stuck his head out and it was the biggest noggin on a fox I’ve ever seen! It was huge. He looked at me and told me to screw and went back in the the hole. To get him the right way we would have to drop another 9 foot hole about 3 feet away and we just didn’t have it in us. So no fox, dog quit, got skunked and a few hounds got banged up. Quote Link to post

Nice pics, was curious about your shovel... Who makes it and where did you get it ? Always on the lookout for a good shovel. Is it forged or tempered? Quote Link to post
