What time do you all go at night ??? Do the rabbits venture further out the later it gets ??? I have as spot cricket pitch and I know there more or less going right out at night , feels a good night tonight for a bash ,

When I go lamping I don't start till at least midnight. But when I'm netting I leave it a bit later again, I do have 1 spot tho and unless you net it in the first couple hours after dark it seems to go quiet after that and then I usually end up with odd 1 or 2

I only get the lampers being a pest at weekends. I don't do them anymore. Part time dog men, who do they think they are lol

Theyre be feeding out tonight Jamie aslong as it not raining too hard..........when I shoot them with the rifle I normally go an hour after dark.

It depends what time the local fox population make their rounds, the weather, what the weather has been like for the last few days, walkers,lampers will all have an effect the list is really endless.

They are coming on from two sides . I walked the perimeter last winter but could not find any warrens so there travelling to get there .

This poxy kindle thingy has shut predictive text lol an edditing is just as bad. You are right tho the few guys I net with have to start a bit earlier when doing there own local areas. Whereas this area seems to produce better bags in the early hours, all with the exception of the business parks I do here. Them bunny will sit tighter earlier, I think it's due to there being folk around all day so they have lost fear to a degree, but during the night they don't see folk so they spook real easily. Get out an try an take notes and pay attention, you'll soon see patterns and learn to act accordingly....

I have found that rabbit will travel good distances if there is good feeding for them. Some spots are early some are late, what I have done in the past is get out with the lamp and find out what time they are feeding in an area. One time I have found to be very good for finding rabbits out is when we have had three or four days rain in the previous days.

Light drizzle out tonight ???? Might go anyway haven't been out for rabbits since first week of march I'm itching to feel fur in my fingers again . Is it a case of not putting the lamp on till the nets in position then just hoping there out once I'm behind them presuming they are there ???

Forget the lamp set the net and just walk them in nice an steady, if they are there your in luck if not you had a nice stroll an a bit a practice dropping and picking the net up lol best a luck

There was a video put up on here a couple of days ago. Where they used lamps for filming purposes while long netting. The rabbits were bolting into the nets at one hell of a speed and in most cases bouncing off the nets. IMO the speed with which the rabbits were hitting the nets was caused by the lamps.

 

Think of it this way your out walking in a field and there are rabbits out in the fields they almost always bolt towards the hedge, but invariably stop just before they get to the hedge and sit a while before they make their minds up to enter where they are going. That is what you want to replicate when you walk the rabbits in, you need them concerned about their safety but not alarmed enough to make a bolt for home.
