was gonna get lowas but my mate (was in the army) said hed had both lowas and altbergs and prefered the altbergs, for comfort as well as not being too heavy...add a bit of mud to an already heavy boot and he said thy can be a chore to lug about over fences etc. any truth to this lads? i think altbergs will be my boot of choice, cant be shelling out 200 quid plus on gtx/hunter/super/mountain/bear killer extremes.

True as fcuk....

Lowas are quality boots.... but theyre heavy... and only get heavier the muddier they get...

Altberg every time for me.... 90% of squaddies wear them out of choice.... the other 10% is made up of scruffs whod rather wear plastic boots and spend the money on fags.....

haha i know the type of squaddie you mean. yeah he was the type to get good kit, webbing, boots, decent watch, leatherman, shades (for afghan) etc. spend most of his time in the kit so might as well be comfortable in it i suppose.

yeah soon as i get paid, im gonna get myself a pair, that pic you put on they look spot on. they deal with the odd bit of water as welll? calf high...?

Ive got Lowa's. A real good boot but as said a bit heavy. Iv'e worn Scarpa for years but they dont seem to last 5 mins.

:icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek: How many pairs have you had !!!!

Just ordered Altberg motorbike boots.

Good reviews so hopefully they are as good as folk say.

They will last you for years, good kit. I also wear TCX touring boots (goretex) which are ace to.
