Chid 6,540
im lucky ive never used a log splitter yet, even though there is a tractor operated one here ... might try it out this winter
mattydski 560
PS I know your not daft but there really dangerous if a log pops out under 10 ton pressure seen some smashed jaws from misuse The splitters you have been using must be shite if a log can pop out. I have seen the odd mishap with the saw bench. But never a log popping out under load. All our gear is tractor mounted but I put up a similar thread a while back and had some good responses. I will have a look for it matty. cheers matey.. all good info so far..
mattydski 560
I tell a lie. I found the thread and not much use. My mate was looking at these but he never bit the bullet. http://www.titan-pro.co.uk/electric-hydraulic-log-splitter/27/Category.aspx There is a demo on YouTube. aye these look value for money..... engine was my only concern, as its unbranded.. mattydski 560
http://www.alpinetractors.com/products.asp?prodsect=72 These look handy http://www.abbeygardensales.co.uk/subprod/log-splitters-0003251.aspx saw them.. also looked at this.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Log-Splitter-Rock-Machinery-12ton-splitting-force-rock-easysplit-12-/261268007409?pt=UK_BOI_FarmingEquipment_RL&hash=item3cd4c969f1
moxy 617
Looks ok matty. But they all look the same just a different colour and stickers. Lol. My only problem with that and some of the other machines is the operating lever location. If you buy one you will soon find out what I mean. Prepare to get the toolbox out for a slight modification ;-)
moxy 617
To add. I wouldn't worry too much about the unbranded spurious engines. Most are ok and on the upside they are also cheap as chips to replace.
