Starlight Archer

Recommended Posts

Well last night i finally got to use my Archer from starlight of manchester after it being delivered on the first occasion six weeks and two days ago, Night vision was very much needed if my business was going to keep ahead of the game, So i thought after much deliberation i would pay rather more than i intended to and get what was advertised as being the mutts nads with all the whistles and bells, So i shelled out £1400 for the unit, then i was informed that to get the best from it i should buy a Leupold vx 3 pa, so that was another £500, :hmm: . Well it was duly delivered two days after the phone call, :clapper: , came with one spacer which connects it to the scope eye piece, wrong size by a mile, phone call to starlight, he suggests that i buy a micrometer to measure it as they may have sized them wrong, Dont think so says i, just send the appropriate size. Matey gets the hump but sends two more, Still wrong, cant get hold of starlight so contact their local outlet, so he says bring it over. Agrees, still wrong sized spacers, he contacts startlight they suggest wrap insulating tape around new scope to make it fit :wallbash: do that then tried to set the unit up. At the end of an emotional 4hrs we give up as a bad job. Lots of phone calls to and fro between local outlet and starlight eventually correct new rings turned up but still unit just would not focus or anything else. At week 4 I ring starlight to air my grievances and inform them that I think the product is crap and the aftersales was appauling, where upon he replies, dont take the piss and goes into a rage as if he is the agreived party :icon_eek: When he finally calms down he agrees to have the unit and my new scope back to manchester where he says he will set it up and get it back to me within 24hrs. This took a further 2 weeks with overnight delivery  Two nights ago I get the call from the local chap to say it has arrived we finally get it adjusted to my eye sight. I can make out the bright eye and just make out the shape of the rabbit, this was at about 50-55yards. This unit i was told was capable of shooting foxes in excess of 200yards and as for shooting rabbits at 80yards was ment to be like shooting at point blank range. Was also informed that part of my problem was due to my Leupold scope being of inferiour quality :icon_eek::rofl:

So you are asking yourself why I havent sent it back. Starlight said they would take it back if I wasnt happy which I would have done but local outlet said that because they had got it working it was of merchantable quality therefore I would not have a leg to stand on! Believe it or not this is the abridged version! I am not slating the product or the company just passing on my experiences

PS Molecatcher and Magwitch wish I had taken both of your advice on this matter and paid £1300 quid less and had the same capability

Proper fackin nightmare, funny thing is all of a sudden there seems to be people singing their praise on here and in all the mags, Warrener is in this months sporting rifle saying he can spot foxes at 300 yds easily with his and shoot them easily at 200,:haha: , his real name must be Steve Austin (for those younger viewers "the bionic man").

MC seems i am lumbered with it as the local outlet says it is of merchentable quality, the card i bought it with would not do anything now as it took so long and they have a thirty day cut off.

Worse thing is, it was not just two grand, as i said on the phone also lost a £500 job that i took on because this was going to be the only way of doing that perticular job and the customer got cheesed off waiting.

Never mind, got to put it down to experience.

Thats really bad news... I honestly wouldn't accept the distributers reason for not giving a full refund... especially if the manufacturer has agreed to a refund. Maybe another unit would be better. Wouldn't be suprised if it had taken a knock with all that tooing and froing! Sorry its been such a let down bud... there really are some sharks about.
