Goldfinches

Hi folks never been on this page before,having a look through now it's good to see all the setups and birds some of you guys have.....was just wondering what's the law regarding goldfinches and bullfinchs are you allowed to keep them or is it hush hush so to speak my dads got a aviary and said he wouldn't mind a couple thanks folks

You best of asking the lads with natives matelol but as far as I know you can keep them but thay av to be ringed with close rings (I think) don't buy them if the rings look like thay av been tampered with hope that helped a little lollol

I fecking hope it's not hush hush or i'm up the old shits creek ,but what rex says is true and correct,all the British finches and most if not all of the soft bills are legal to keep as long as they are legaly closed rung with the proper rings or if by some chance(like i have with 2 of my native bullfinch chicks,the hen pulled them off and i didn't notice it untill to late)you have a unrung bird then as long as YOU CAN PROVE they are captive bred (like i can with mine with dna testing as i have both rung parent birds ) then your ok but to be honest unrung birds are a mine field of trouble and any laspe will bit you in the arse big time .Bullfinches though are not for the beginner mate and it's worth keeping a few other native types before trying with bullies .
