What the Hell is this?

when you let go of it it will fold down flat the mesh is steel and acts like a chainlink fence, we dont know what it is for so glad of any help there is a name maillinox made in france stamped on the bottom,!!!!

I was thinking about this while i was driving home. Could it be one of those old cage type things people used to use to keep live baits in? I'll stop guessing now as to be honest i dont have a clue. joe

!00 points for ferreter Joe . Before the days of battery operated air pumps, electronic buckets and all that jazz, people used to just push a stick in the bank and dangle one of these in the water to keep the live bait in them. As most things these days , they are more the likely illegal in the UK by mow. I used them back home when fishing for pike of the boat as well. I used to have one with a kind of spring door in the top, so I could just fling it over the side of the boat without the bait fish getting out of the top.
