lurcher2020 285
They can be kept alone if there's enough to keep him occupied however you may be better with another hob as ferrets love to play 1 Quote Link to post
happyferret123 13
I personally wouldn't keep one by itself. ~They are sociable animals and like interaction. They can entertain themselves more if you have more than one, keep each other warm in the winter. Quote Link to post
The one 8,487
I wouldn't have just the one it limits the amount of burrows you can work , but you need to think what your going to do during the breeding season on whether you get a hob or jill Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
Yeah would make things slower on the field but agree with Happyferret, they need companionship as they are naturally sociable animals and will become bored and lonely by themselves. I should know because I have kept lone ferrets before. Now, not a single ferret I own lives by itself and its so nice to see them play together In my opinion the best case scenario you could have is a vac hob to sort out your jills when they come into season, apart from that you would need to separate your hobs during this time. alan81 110
thank you lads for your help it looks like ill be getting another hob. is it ok to put them together straight away and keep a close eye on them or should I keep them divided so they can still smell each other for a couple of days thanks again. The one 8,487
If you got kits your fine this year it will be next year they try to bum each other Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
Yeah the hobs need separating when they come into season next year. The One- I find bumming is okay it the fighting that I draw the line at Quote Link to post

CraigRVenner 1
vasectomise your hob for next year and get him a jill to play with then you don't have to worry about separation.. happy hunting Quote Link to post

CraigRVenner 1
good point the one and another excuse to get more jills happy days Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
Its better to keep them with other ferrets, not essential, but they are social creatures. Castrated hobs will be fine with other ferrets all year round, but that depends on what your plans are breeding wise. Quote Link to post
killer catch 18
last season i just had the one ferret ad this year i have 3. seeing how social they are i would never have just 1 again. good luck 1 Quote Link to post
