alan81 110
Ok guys, I'm sure this has been done to death. I shot a fox a while back whilst shooting rabbits with my HMR. Now I really hooked on Fox shooting. However no matter how hard I try I can't get a fox within 100 yards of me. I know there is at least 6 fox's on my permission some of which are cubs. How on earth do I get them on close enough to take a meaningful shot. If people could post on how they do it, I'd appreciate the experience. Just a caviat here. I only have HMR and .22lr on my ticket. The land owner only wants those calibre's used. And in work life I'm a professional shooter. I know I can head shot on the mark every time. Cheers in advance gents. There is a way to get close to any animal an old way some might even say an art sadly lost to a new generation of hunters it works for amateurs and professionals (even the ones who pretend to be) it dosent require the latest gadget, flatest shooting rifle or the latest camouflage it is quite simply fieldcraft nothing more nothing less those with it wont realise and those without wont care That's the exact information I'm trying to get people to impart on me I dont beleive fieldcraft can be learnt on the internet the only way to learn is by being out in the field by having success and failure by observation and by understanding how your presence effects your surroundings, interestingly l know a man that has a level of field craft I can only aspire to he has never hunted but is a photographer his observation skills and patience are exceptional and that's what makes him so successful. photographers would make the best shooters/hunters because they understand animal behaviour better than 99% of shooters/hunters because they study animal behaviour for years and years. its easy to go out and shoot ???? but a good photographer can track ???? without it knowing for months on end. 1 Quote Link to post
