deerhunter25 18
Wel folkies had my first outing with the 5 shot escort tonight and it was first class!!! Shot 3 rabbits and a crow and my mate who was also using his new escort got a few rabbits too. I might eat my words yet but so far money very well spent. Cycles no bother at all Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Get one and ignore the negatives, if you clean it they keep going fine, they have a guarantee for 3 years. Had my 5 shot about six years now with no probe. Quote Link to post

lksopener 105
Nothing wrong with the hatsans at all. Give them a clean and they work lovely. Comparing a £1000 plus benelli to one is like comparing a BMW to a ford ka. They both work just one has an aesthetic advantage with technical extras. 1 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Nothing wrong with them if they are used as a hatstand Quote Link to post
deerhunter25 18
Il just be using it as a working shotgun... Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
how is this hatsan/escort going? i'm going to buy a cheap 12g 3 shot semi auto soon, purely as a working tool, and the hatsan seems to fit the scene, synthetic stock, multi choke and cheap. i currently do most of my shooting with a 20g beretta al391, but find rfd's lacking in cartridges they stock, normally only have 4-7's. 25-30gram i'd like to have a few 0's, 4's and 7 1/2's on my cartridge belt when out shooting at this time of year, 0 for fox, 4 for duck and rabbits and 7 1/2 for pigeons, 28-40grams Quote Link to post
alan81 110
im looking into getting a new shotgun now and my gun dealer recons buying an escort is like buying a lucky bag you don't know what your going to get it could come good or you could get a pile of scrap metal. I think im going to go with the Winchester SX3 it costs about 600 euro more but I really like the narrow fore end and pistol grip and the safety is behind the trigger where I like it. im not on a big budget but I can pay weekly for the gun and I recon your better of getting the gun you like rather than just getting the one you can afford at the time plus the Winchester SX3 is basically a Browning Maxus but 500 euro less. 2 Quote Link to post
deerhunter25 18
Its going ok irish nut. It can be a bit mischievous at cycling different cartridges (from 6 to 5 etc) but on the whole it was worth spending 450 on. Im a shite shot so no going to buy something too expensive Quote Link to post
deerhunter25 18
Gents id hold off on the escort. You sure get what you pay for. Pile of shite. Trouble is im just going to put up with it. It cant cycle 3 inch magnums. Now I see why the offer a 3 year warranty. Cause you need it!!! Stay clear 2 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
On this occasion I really do hate to say I told you so mate, what I don't get is why oh why do people get drawn into spending between £400-£500 quid on this kind of substandard Turkish rubbish, when that kind of money will get you a nice condition, used quality semi auto, for the gods sake DONT DO IT LADS, buy a used Berreta, Benneli, Franchi, ect ect ect,, and enjoy, while ever we keep buying crap they will continue to send the same rubbish, if they did not sell they would soon sort them out, I suppose its the draw of a new gun for a cheap price, but you are much better buying a nice used auto. 1 Quote Link to post
Ratsmasher 36
I don't really see where all this anti hatsan stuff comes from. The way I see it is the people who have had them say either yeah they're fine if you look after them or they say there the worst gun ever made... Well I think from that its clear that the peopl who say they're crap just don't look after they're guns very well. And as for all the Benelli shooters I think they're a bit miffed tht they spend a grand on a gun that is always going to be an ugly workhorse ...... Just the way I see it Quote Link to post
The Seeker 3,048
Or it could be when I spend over £400-500 on a shot gun and I pull the trigger I expect it to go bang and recycle the next cartridge every time, unlike the hatstands where it's a bonus if it does. Look at the post before last Deerhunter25. You are right, I confess I am a miffed Benelli shooter and I have to admit I'm very disappointed with it, as it gives me nothing to bitch about, it always works and will shoot and recycle any load I put in it up to 3 1/2" magnum. I also imagine the USA armed forces and police are also extremely miffed with theirs 3 Quote Link to post

Just the way I see it It comes from them being substandard, tinny unreliable crap, and yes I am a miffed Benneli owner too who is happy in the knowledge that my UGLY? workhorse performs faultlessly Would it be fair to say you own a tinny hatstand my friend? Just the way I see it That post is obviously a wind up! Perhaps you need to buy one, preferably from about 5 years back, love it, cuddle it, clean it, polish it, oil it and then tell us what you think! Now and again you get one that works and people are fine with it, but the people that end up in deerhunter25 position is disproportionate to the number sold. Simply look at the number of problem Hatsan posts on this and any other forum you like, then compare that to ANY other shotgun manufacturer, then tell me Hatsan owners " just don't look after they're guns very well". 4 Quote Link to post
