Does Anyone Own A .20 Or .25 Hw97K Or Kt

Recommended Posts

Interesting idea to speculate on. Have a .20" Beeman 97K BluLam. Thing shoots fine, has a bit of a twang, bit hits moderately well. Prefer the Beeman R1 in .177" that shoots a lot straighter and harder with Barracudas than the 97 does with the H&N FTS pellets in .20". Only about a grain of difference in weight.

Could say the same about the HW97 in .22" vs. the .25". One could shoot 18 grain .22 pellets as easily as shooting 18 grain .25" pellets. A sub-12fpe .25" would be out of the question.

A highly tuned HW77K with iron sights shooting at 15-16fpe might make an interesting plinking gun. Wouldn't want to use it beyond 10 meters though. No need for a scope. The same could be said for an HW80 shooting at 18fpe. with iron sights. Now that could be a real "fun gun". Deadly for vermin closeup. A rainbow trajectory would keep the pellet from traveling to far. Less problem with over penetration. A snap to reload.

To me .20" is heavy.

Peace, hope this helps,

Comparing a .22 to a .25 is like comparing a pigeon to a chicken. Two different beings.

Yes, using a heavier pellet "would be like using a .25" and I'd say try it. Could be what you're missing without requiring another rifle.

All the same, I believe you should try a .25, any brand, just to get a general idea of what one is like and then delve dealer into the brand you favour.

A .20 calibre I'm yet to see and try to have an experienced opinion but if you like features from both .177 and .22 the argument could still be heavier/lighters pellets than a new rifle.

However, lets say you went for one, the pellets for a .20, how available are they and is there much of a variety?

As much as we can advise you here, its all to your taste and the specific reasons for the calibre

I've mainly used .20 for about five years now and I really do rate it. My HW90 shoots very well with most of the quality brands but the nod goes to H and N FTTs closely followed by Baracudas and Loguns.

There's loads of pellets to choose from but sadly most gun shops don't stock many (if any...) so it's a case of looking on the web but so long as you stick to the main brands you shouldn't go too far wrong.

I've only used a .25 many years ago and that belonged to a mate so I can't really comment but Daz7 on here speaks very highly of it so it may be worth asking him.
