A Warren On The Hillside

Recommended Posts

Wrapping my nets with the draw cord now, trouble was the cord on my nylons was quite short in comparison to my new nets.

Thought i'd add a few more pictures from that hillside. Taken all i can from there now and without a marking dog ill be netting too many empty warrens. Theres three rabbits that gave me the slip out of a forty hole warren so ill be going back for them this weekend then moving onto another permission.

This photo was taken half way down a warren packing at least two hundred holes. I have just under fifty nets but luckily all the networks were not joined so we moved the nets down and worked the hill bit by bit.

Thankfully not all the warrens were that big though

Got these nets from Andy Kelly, brilliant, the old nylons have been getting neglected

Technically it's still a picture, a 'gif', ten pictures as a slide show. I just googled 'create gif' and the top page let me do it. Once created it gives you links just like a picture.

Yeah him and his sister have been great workers since the first day out. He's castrated but I've kept the jill in tact, fancy keeping a line from her in the future.

Have to agree, get yourself a Bulldog rabbiting spade, a Dog would be handy, if you dont mind me saying, that hillside is littered with burys, the best way to attack it, would be with long, nets and stop nets and a dog pushing the bolting rabbits into the net. save you a lot of time,

good write up, with some good clear photos.

Thanks guys. Haha, these things are on the list, dog would be stuck in my little flat alone for hours each day, wouldn't be fair, if/when circumstances change ill most likely get one. Found that spade when waiting for my ferret the first time it killed in  Its done the job so far, but with it being so long, a hole three foot or more needs to be very wide. Recently bought new purse nets, a cleaver and a rucksack. Ill make sure a long net is in the next batch of ferreting goods
