Sandymere you have put a link up worth reading for once :thumbs:

Intelligent people read all my links :laugh:

No they get bored with them

LOL yes the less intelligent get bored.

With cuts the main thing is getting them clean, superficail ones are easy as you can just wash gently with water etc but deeper wounds like bites need a slightly different treatment. these can do with flushing with a syringe to get muck out from inside. Once clean they need to heal from the inside out and a wound ointment can help this, it also keeps the wound moist which aids healing with deep wounds especially.

the important thing is to clean any wound as soon as possible, washing with clean water is as good as anything to really irrigate the wound because its not just bacteria which cause abscesses, any foreign matter can do so. run cold water into the wound for as long as you think you might need. i know people who will keep washing until the bleeding stops but i think this is unecessary. skin tears, even quite big ones, rarely go septic. i tend to just leave them unless they are big enough to need a stitch or staple. puncture wounds i flush with diluted pevidine (iodine based) at least once a day, like sandy says get a small syringe and put it right into the holes. when we did lots of foxes we used to carry a wash bottle of iodine solution, flush the wounds out immediately and never had any problems. peroxide is ok, but must be weak solution else it damages the new cells and actually slows down the healing process
