Gaz_1989 9,539
Does anyone use this for treating minor wounds? How do you rate it? I've always used the purple spray with good results but not only does my bitch hate the spraying sound, she has got a big purple patch on her face and a purple paw for 2-3 days now. I was just looking for a clear alternative and came across this stuff. Cheers Gaz
paulus 26
just use salt water
Gaz_1989 9,539
I used to. But got fed up of waiting for kettle to boil, mixing it up, waiting for it to cool etc. My mate was giving his dog a squirt of purple spray and in bed before my kettle boiled

C Hall 552
IMO it doesn't heal a wound any quicker than keeping it clean. The way cut and heal is used i.e. dipping the sponge in and out of the solution will introduce bacteria into the solution then back into the wound then the next wound etc etc

Realistically?
C Hall 552
Clean with sterile water or hydrogen peroxide and water, then betadine ointment which you will be able to buy from any chemist ETA: Betadine ointment is an antiseptic for the topical treatment or prevention of infection in minor cuts and abrasions, minor surgical procedures and small areas of burns. For the treatment of skin conditions with pus caused by fungal or bacterial infections. For the treatment of infections in ulcers associated with bedsores or leg vein conditions. I have always used hydrogen peroxide and then blue spray......sometimes use sudocreme...it appears to work well.... Tons of things on the market but probably best just kept simple....
sandymere 8,263
Small wounds should heal with a flush with some clean water, add salt if you want, nothing will keep a wound clean other than covering. Any wound that needs a cover likely needs a stitch, staple etc. Small cuts/grazes to legs etc I just clean then let nature take its course. Good link here re wound cleaning http://www.infectioncontrolservices.co.uk/wound_cleansing.htm
