Big bald beautiful 1,231
And the problem is...why do you want her to run when there's nothing about?...keep asking her to and she may start running just to please you...or is that what you want? Quote Link to post

Big bald beautiful 1,231
Hunting up is different, you want her to use her nose.. Just take her out among game and let her learn... But then is her basic obedience up to scratch.. Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
Some proper pratts on this site. Sometimes lampers can see summat a dog can't, so a lamping dog should be able to run on command, running the beam we call it, tell a dog summats there light up where and dg will lamp. What about squatters? Surely a dog that only runs what it can see will miss squatters? Some know alls know fook all.... The guy with the dog, don't forget tht dog is new to you, new to quarry an new to lamping, keep doing what your doing, keep bonding with the dog, walk up the squatters whilst hissing an the dog will start to trust you. Don't go slippin on nowt thoas dog will not trust you. Practice makes perfect or as close as damn it, keep at them and all the best with the youngster. Pm me if you have anymore probs 4 Quote Link to post

AirgunGuy 362
Agree with above. Done plenty lamping with mine last season. As soon as the beam is on something and if he can't see it...a pssst and he's off down the beam as he knows something will be there. Your dog given some time and experience will trust you and will know that when you're sending the dog down the beam he will know something will be there for him.
