Supermarket 'special' Parking Spaces .....

Recommended Posts

Just coming off what Paulus said there, about 'no obvious disabilities' .....

I am registered as 'Disabled'. Only, I don't limp. I'm f**ked in the head. Would I be automatically entitled to a 'Blue Badge' then? Or is there a scaled criteria? Have to have bad legs. Own a wheel chair. What ever.

See, if I had a legal right to park in a given place and did so. Then, on getting out, someone started rucking me about Not being disabled? Well, I can assure you that, due to my actual Disability, it would very soon turn into a scene out of Gladiator. You Would be entertained! I'd go f**king ballistic!

Happily then, I don't drive. Don't use supermarkets. And I wouldn't want a Blue Badge if I did. Too much f**king trouble.

some people need wider parking spaces as they need to pull a wheel chair along side the door to slide across to get in the car..   getting rid of parking spaces is not a good idea but automatic fine

i need a bigger space to lift my lad out of the car and in to his wheel chair. he is 11.5 stone i cant carry him far and i need to open the door fully to get him out. if all the disabled badge spaces

Ive seen disabled parking bays further from the door than normal spaces..... I thought they wanted to be treated just the same so they should not getting any special treatment. Canny really compl

not everybody with a blue badge has a wheelchair though, it seems to me the blue badge/disabled parking bay thingy is just becoming OAP parking perk as when i am sat in asda car park waiting for the Mrs, 99% of the people i see using these disabled bays seem to have no obvious disabilities what so ever :hmm:

your spot on mate we have a blue badge for are disabled son when we park in disabled bays we get some right dirty looks because we are a young couple. we have had people come over look in the window even ask if we have one as we get out most of these people arnt disabled just old or fat as f**k

i have never understood the blue badge scheme, if someone is classed as disabled then the taxation class of there vehicle can be changed to disabled, doing this makes the road fund tax free. I do believe it even says disabled on the tax disc, so there really is no need for the blue badge scheme an no scheme equals no blue badge fraud :hmm:

how are we meant to get era wheelchair down the side of the car in a normal space?

if the vehicle is used for the benefit of a disabled person then the taxation group can be changed from private light goods to disabled, once its changed then no road tax is payable and the tax disc itself would be equivalent to the blue badge when it comes to parking, if that makes sense.

no mate only if you get mobility high rate you don't just get one because your registered disabled so if you see most people with blue badge getting out without no obvious signs of disability they have obviously lied about there condition in order to get the benefits

i have badges for my lad but choose to pay my car tax as you are not supposed to use the car without the person in it who the tax is claimed for.. obviousley i can go to work in it but not up north yorkshire at 1.am to get on the rabbits. i could be at risk of having my car towed away (possibly).

that`s the thing i am getting at the blue badge has been given out like sweets in the past so it would seem and the spaces are not available for the people who genuinely need them.

agreed... but people park in the spaces that should not, normaly they are in a rush, fat or fat and lazy.. the original post was about getting rid of the bigger bays and imo that would be a mistake

but your car is for the benefit of your son as well as your use, without it neither would be able to help the other, :hmm:

in total agreement with that mate, most supermarket car parking spaces are not even wide enough to open a car door fully anyway.

i could be wrong and be taxing my car for nothing but its not that expensive.. :icon_redface:

http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-for-disabled-people

this is copied from the link

The vehicle is not being used solely for your purpose

The vehicle will not be exempt from tax if it’s used in a way which is not directly for the purposes of the disabled person. You should contact the DVA and tax the vehicle in the appropriate tax class.

The disabled tax disc previously issued must be returned on an 'Application for a refund of vehicle tax when you have the tax disc V14(NI)' along with the exemption certificate and a covering letter.

that`s all well and dandy if the disabled person owns the car and is not dependent on someone else, like say your situation with your child.

it does say this on that website,

daft why would someone else have a car just to help someone else and not for there own use as well :icon_eek:

Using a vehicle which has a free disabled tax disc

The vehicle must either be used by yourself or by someone who only uses their vehicle to help you, for example getting prescriptions for you.
