simonrocco 175
i had a look out with the longnet last night for a couple of hours it was only my second time out at night with the net i only caught the one rabbit on my first drop but i really enjoyed it there was a good wind up and a little rain but to be honest it was a bit to light i tried about seven drops all toghther but the only other thing i caught was a bloody hedgehog which i thought was a rabbit and when i went to pick it up only then did i realise it was a hedgehog when i had a hand full of spikes it took some getting out of the net in the dark i think next time ill take a little torch with me just in case it happens again atb 1 Quote Link to post
Guest scramble
Well done for getting out mate. Cant wait to get out myself, dark nights are on the way As you say it was a little light last night, but its all a learning curve. You need those less fruitful nights to get you thinking where/what went wrong and how to avoid it next time. 1 Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
i also had a hedgehog before today, lucky for me Mr Wilkes removed it.. if your lucky you will find some blind sets that can even be done on light nights so there's no need to wait for perfect conditions.. better to be out and catch 1 rabbit than sat on thl 1 Quote Link to post

bobcullen79 1,495
Has anyone experienced the cry of a Hedge Hog ?? Spooky !!! .. I have. Not netting though. I was walking the terrier when she was a pup, at night and seen something shoot across the alley so I let the dog go. Turned out to be a hedgehog. Funny as you like watching the dog, she didn't know what to make of it. Then we let him on his way. Quite loud, especially at 2am. Congratulations Simon on your catch. You've done better than me lol. Don't say that, I know their bad for them. But the same black dog I was on about found a mother and nest of 3 about the size of a small orange a couple of days ago. We were watching her in my mates garden and she was in between some over hanging cover and a low wall, thought she was trying to dig a rat out at first. Quote Link to post
