Ratsmasher 36
Morning all I've just got my court system set up and I want to run all my ferrets together I've got two adult Jill's, 7 Jill kits about 9 weeks old and the father of the kits which is now vasectomiesed I've just introduced them all together into the court and it seems to be getting on ok but every so often the hob grabs a kit and starts dragging it about by the skin is this it just establishing a sort of hierarchy or is he trying to mate them or what? Is it possible to run jobs with Jill's year round? Any advice would be appreciated CheersRatsmasher Quote Link to post
Markieboy 0
its normally the adult jills your going to have a problem with when introducing new members to the business but because its her kits it should be fine as for your hob ,i think your right and he's just showing whos boss , ferrets play hard and can look nasty , so the only thing i can offer you is , to keep an eye out for blood , give it a few days and everything should settle down Quote Link to post
The one 8,497
When was your hob snipped ?. as he will still have mating hormones running rampart for up to three months Quote Link to post

iana 25
Had a similar problem with myb3 Jill's, they kept dragging one and other all over the plaice. Someone told me it was their mothering instinct as they had the jab. Just got a hob today from my mate so he will be getting the "snip" and servicing them himself next time they come into season. Markieboy 0
ive got to introduce a 2 year old cut hob in to the court in the next couple of days , theres only 2 jills in there , ones about 19 months old , but the polcat jill whos about the same age as the hob is a right bitch about new comers , he really needs to go in there as the new courts not ready yet , but im not looking forward to it . but heres a tip that might work if you have some sort of small cage you can put the offender in there but still in the court (if you have room that is) leave him in there for a couple of days so he can watch the rest play but he cant get involved , then let him out ,if he starts again , put him back and start again , 8 out of 10 times the bad guy gets the message and peace resumes good luck Quote Link to post
