Gaz_1989 9,539
What are people's preferences? I know everyone is different. Some lads won't touch a bitch and vice versa some won't have a dog. Whereas others don't care and just pick whatever pup takes there eye. I've said for a while I wouldn't have another dog, only bitches. They seem that bit more obedient and loyal. I know there is the downside of them coming into season and that can be some hassle. I've been looking after my mates dog this week and he has really taken to me, and me him. He doesn't leave my side. If we are in the garden my bitch lies down 10 feet away and he comes and puts his head on my lap. Really affectionate dog and does anything to please me. Do you find this is just down to the breeding and individual dog or is there a general "bitches are generally more loyal" etc? I always thought bitches were that bit easier to bring on because dogs go through the male dominance stage at 8-12 months when they realise they have got balls? Just curious as to what others think. No right or wrong answers 1 Quote Link to post
david.kean.21 34
a think its down to how you raise the dog as a pup, how you treat and train the dog will determin the behaviour of it when its matured .. always be bitches for me cos a find there more loyal but ai only 21 only had 2 dogs that have been bitches so probly aint best to take on ma opinion lol Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
Always had dogs, had a whippet bitch and the odd terrier bitch. Thinking along a different path , so my next will be a bitch.... Quote Link to post
scothunter 12,609
always liked a bitch myself.think you get a truer run from a bitch.well thats just my opinion.i know what you mean by a dog showing a bit more affection and never leaving your side.my current dog is like that.guess it has to do with how strong a bond you have with the animal, and trust.. your mates dog will be over affectionate to you, cause he will be pining a wee bit for his master. Gaz_1989 9,539
Cheers for replies. My bitch is not very affectionate at all really. She works fairly close to me but not at my side. Another mate of mine has got a bitch that won't leave his side when out mooching. It's just interesting to see what preferences people have. Quote Link to post

buster gonads 862
Iv had more dogs than bitch's, i think dogs have a bit grit in the field but bitch's are easyer to train/live with, atb, buster. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
can not say i have noticed anything remarkably different between either dogs or bitches to be honest other than the obvious Quote Link to post
RossM 8,121
I've got 3 bitches here, all very biddable and easy to train, never had a dog so I can't compare, if I honest I'll probably only keep bitches. Quote Link to post
paulf 820
mostly had dogs but had a bitch this time round ,the only bitches I have had were bought in older so I will see how I get on with this one though she is very loyal to me more so than most of the dogs I have had...but I think its just down to personal taste ...
