bobcullen79 1,495
As you said, trial and error, providing the landowner doesn't want a total wipe out. Start out with a few ferrets, locator, spade and around 25 nets. Once you start losing a few, you`ll know where your going wrong and either invest in more nets or a longnet. Good luck. Ive already been told theres nothing on my permission so far this year 1 Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
Cheers for the response everyone, Thinking an ex army fold out shovel ????? Ive got two weeks from end of aug to get all this gear together including ferrets lol this should be interesting! NEVER in a million years, i'm sure in the past we have all bought one thinking they will be useful. And every single one of us will have realised after the first spit they are as suitable as tits on a boar............... They have their uses.... But are no substitute for a big spade... 1 Quote Link to post

thenetter 37
Right guys and girls, This is one of my many questions ive spammed the forums for help, As you are all aware if youve been on my postings this season will be my first season to get on with what i joined this forum to try and do Ferreting, I have the land permission at one sizeable area and one medium area, plenty of warrens etc And some undiscovered ones as theres an old railway line and apparently from a preious post there usually goldmines for the bunnies! What is absolute minimum gear set up you would need to be a successful ferreter , What i have now Bed x whip 12 month What I need Everthing lol SO to sum up , what gear will i need? I know I've said this before on another post, but If your buying purse nets dont go for the cheap and nasty 4z or 6z nylon one's unless your plann ing to ferret on a snooker table. [[nearly put me off ferreting]]. Theres plenty of chaps on this site that will sort you out. 1 Quote Link to post
Wxm 1,638
well i started with 15 / 20 nets, ferret in a pillow case and a dog you can make it as easy or as hard as you want. my way id have said was 1 of the hardest the easiest would be introducing a locator and spade but there will be still lads out there that have been at it years and never used a locator. its up to you Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
I started last season with a ferret, cheap cat carrier, permission and twenty nets. Thats what i would call the minimum. I stuck to small warrens mainly and was always vigilant for my ferret coming out the hole and was prepared to wait if necessary. I put lots of fleeces in the cat carrier to keep the ferret warm.I have built upon that now and have three ferrets, forty nets, locater and collars, spade and a proper ferret box. Plan to get some long nets soon. 2 Quote Link to post
