jrt666 1
it seems to me quite a few of the patts that have there pics up on here look almost like small staffs so what i would like to know is have patts always had bull type dogs put into them or is it a recent thing? and if so how recent? i know it dosent matter what a dog looks like as long as it gets the job done but cant see why the border lakie and say jrt to the most part are prety much the same kind of size and stamp as each other yet the patts look bully even though all the breeds were bred to do the same type of job. hope it aint to silly a question and it gets some replys Quote Link to post
CumbrianJack 2
Think its more just certain strains look like that not mentioning any names but there is still some real old types about if you know where to find them which don't have bully heads. Guess its just what people prefer at the end of the day. Quote Link to post

DUCKWING 302
WELL LADS , IF I WAS A BETTING MAN ................ I WOULD PUT MY HOUSE ON THE FACT THAT THERES BULL BLOOD IN THE HISTORY OF EVERY WORKING STRAIN PLUMMER ........... ONCE PUT A PHOTO IN HIS FELL TERRIER BOOK OF WINCHES GRANDPARENTS ........ AT THE SIDE WAS A PHOTO OF A BULL TERRIER ....... NOT STAFFORD TYPE ......... BUT A BULL NEVER THE LESS ........ IT WAS SAID THIS DOG WENT INTO THE BORDERS WAY BACK .......... I KNOW OLD NUTTAL HAS TOLD ME ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT HIS GRANFATHER PUT A TYPE OF NORTHUMBRIAN BULL TERRIER INTO HIS DOGS ....... I COULD GO ON AND ON HOWEVER .......... IMO THE REASON SOME LINES OF TERRIER HAVE BEEN SATURATED WITH BULL IS THE LOCATOR ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post
bolohan 0
some patts look like mini staffie bulls. some have their blood too. if they work, they stay Quote Link to post
Guest Dig1
heres a smooth, black terrier i have that looks like a 'bully' type Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
duckwing hit a good point with the locator... i know alot of lads that take pride in the fact that their dogs never make a peep!! a dog with a good voice is still very important IMO... i like a bully head too as long as its still narrow enough in the shoulders to get on... he also doesnt leave his tongue at home in the kennel Quote Link to post
kreet 0
thats a nice dog dig 1 very bully like looks like a handy wee tool Quote Link to post
cdnhastings 23
The locator? not sure what you mean by that... Are you meaning the collars themselves or the lads digging to the tykes wearing the collars? not sure what you meant in either case, maybe you could explain a bit more Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Yep, gotta agree with all that Duckwing, Bully heads as the 'Fell Terrier' book mentions seemed to be prevalent in Buck and Breys lines, apparently Brey denied using bull to his death bed, though looking at those early photos summat was 'different' about the heads on those dogs, look at the photo of Wally Wild with 'Kipper' very much like the dogs seen today and directley, at the time, off Brey. Though looking at Bucks Tex and Tiger both look very 'Borderish' though (IMO) a millon miles from the likes of 'Kipper' Yet both men had a breeding programme using each others dogs. Now it would seem that there are a few years between some of these photos, but such a change in type....... It's always kept me guessing!! Cheers Quote Link to post
