I think but maybe wrong they cost the vets around £20.

 

My mate gets them off a company who supply to the vets for £15 so doubt the vets pay £20 fella.

Either way its all down to the individual isnt it.

 

The big problem with THL is we all think everyone does things our own way. I dont give a feck if someone pays £100 for a Jab or doesnt Jab there dog at all. But some people get ever so offended when another man jabs his own dog and doesnt go to the vets for his wormers.

I don't know what they end up costing the vet, but I read years ago they cost just over thirty pence to produce.

Anyone remember years ago Plummer had an on going debate/discussion with a manufacturer about how many pups could safely be vaccinated with one vial.

AMBIVET O1773 717780 I just gave them a bell they have gone up in price, 30 pound but the pup gets a health check and a whomer,, it was 25 pound 3 years ago when I took mine,,, so any 1 who gets told 50 pound change your vet,,,for 30 pound like other said a peace of mind and a peace of paper if you ever have them put in kennels,,or go out the country,,,

although i'm a 'to each their own' guy, i have mates who 'jab' their own pups etc but i've used the same vet for years, he knows me, he knows my dogs, he's not the best vet in the world but he's not the worst, he knows i take care of minor ailments / injuries, he know's he can't pull the wool over my eyes, he charges what he charges it's his business after all, what worries me however is if anyone looks to save a few quid on innoculations for a pup that's hopefully going to be with them for many years where else are they going to skimp ? with the time, feeding, effort, training etc that we should put into a pup is a few quid such a big deal?

 

Ive been ripped of by vets too many times had dog bleeding to death in a waiting room while they waited for there £100 upfront. Ive been told stories of them skimping on drugs they put dogs down with and the dogs are waking up in plastic bags. Ive had them do bad stitching jobs leaving stuff in wounds and when my mate took a dog the had been spiked by a muntie they tried telling him the dog had been hit by a car and would need this and that.

 

Why anyone would line a bad vets pockets i have no idea. As gaz said a goodun is worth there wieght in gold but its finding a goodun thats the problem

 

because my vet knows that i'm fairly knowledgable he doesn't try to 'rip me off'..... he did once years ago and was quickly put right (he assumed i was ignorant and didn't know the difference between viral and bacterial infections and he suggested the use of inappropriate antibiotics) but because we now know each other that wouldn't happen also because we know each other he knows i pay my bill on the day every time so he would never ask for an upfront payment........i have had bad experiences with other vets and realise that not all vets are decent but i have a good working relationship with mine so until he makes a howler i'm happy to pay for his services......but like i said to each their own

True, which also would suggest the same for home vaccinating difference being which is, and I'm surprised no ones mentioned it, if it did happen you at least have a comeback having used a vet. You can whistle Dixie if you done it yourself and you might have built up a nasty bill trying to save your dog before it eventually dies.

My vets charge me £24 a year for boosters.

Mind you though, they do send me a remider saying the dogs are due for their booster

but its always a month or so early. That way they could get 13 jabs money into a 12 year old dog

 

Again, don't for a minute think they would be the best practice in the country but so far, so good and they

know I've got working dogs

not 100% sure and its a couple of years since i had a pup jabbed but i think it was around £30 but i don't pay too much notice to be honest, it's just another bill that needs paid

i jabbed my pup last season with an all in one jab never got the 2 bottles like we used to were you wait 2 weeks after the first jab has anyone else used them

got the same ones for a booster for my dogs for £12 with syringe and needles but never used them gave them back to the guy for his mates pups but as i said vets for me for the pups first jabbs and thats it
