2 ferrets or 1

Recommended Posts

just starting out ferreting proper. is it best to take one ferret out or work 2 together. i know this may depend on how big the warren is and how many burrows there are. just wanting some pointers as i want to get off on the right track :signthankspin:

if you dont wanna loose them, get a ferret locator

have just bought one could only afford the one collar mind ... will have to stick just the one down for now, have plenty of time :signthankspin:

My mate only has the one collar and he uses it on his hob.

Works the jill and if it kills he enters the hob and digs to that location. Almost like a liner without a line.

I dont do it, I only work mine with collars. If I feed the ferrets before I go out I have never had to dig, but they dont seem as devoted in working though.

Good luck ferreting

f**k me, the old timers must be laughing from their grave! What a load of bollocks!

I've done far more ferreting without a locator than I have with, and I've never lost a ferret yet! In fact, my locator is only used in the same way as a line (as someone has mentioned before).

Ferrets get lost because of a lack of knowleadge, not a lack of locator!

Good luck

Why doesn’t he just put it on the Jill and then he wont have to put his hob down.

only thing i can add is lack of patience as well as lack of knowledge

Too many folk want the rabbits and ferrets out within 5 minutes or start digging  wait a bit, sit and watch the world go by, the ferrets will (99% of the time) shift those rabbits
