bigmac 97kt 13,807
Point taken but as you have stated it happens to us all if every one told the truth and to answer your first question the 97 yard er was taken down by two shooters at the same time and i have not shot at that distance since or before only at the range i like to zero my rifles in at between 27 and 35 yards that's what im happy with but if you feel confer-dent to shoot at longer distances then why not if you can ache ave the kill shot if you read some of my posts i hardly miss and the rabbit in question was only 27 yards away and hit in the head but as it was next to wood land it ran about 10 feet and dropped into the wood land but i could not find it these where taken off the bipob so there was no error im sorry if this has upset you but it was not meant to iv been hunting for the best part of my life and all it takes is a blade of grass or a standing weed or twig to deflect your pellet so it hits in the wrong place and we don't always see this happen once again im sorry about this it was not meant to up set eny one i just tell it as it happens and don't hold eny thing back if i miss i state that i miss ectra, ectra ect,ra atvbmac Quote Link to post

Daz39 962
Mac, I applaud you for taking out a new shooter and giving him a chance to improve his skills, that's the best way to learn, in fact I do the same myself where possible, it's a great way to make new friends and further our sport. However I do have a problem with reports of wounding, I know it happens to us all at some point, it's inevitable. On this thread you shot one rabbit at 20 yards, an eye shot so not the best placing, then a wounded rabbit that got away at 26 yards and another wounded escapee where you didn't state the range. Ok that's bad luck, but recently I questioned your statement about taking a rabbit at 97 yards? So was that a pot shot, a fluke or what? You said you practise at that range and are confident, I shoot targets at that range but no way would I take a shot at live quarry at anywhere near that. None of us like injured animals being left, even rats so I think this thread just underlines my feelings. Wounding sometimes is inevitable, taking shots at more than sensible ranges is plain wrong and does nothing for our sport except give the antis more ammunition. Lots of people saying "good shooting?" No, I don't agree. Good to be out and about but 1 dead rabbit and 2 wounded ones dying in their burrows is not good by anyones standards. Regards Tim. Tim, I saw both Vislauk AND Bigmac refuse to take shots that night because of unclear line of sight or being too far away. I saw Bigmac stalk upto a rabbit from 50 yards to 20 before taking a shot. Bigmac isn't the kind of hunter to take risks or to cause suffering to an animal. He'd rather blank than do that. 1 Quote Link to post
