I was literally watching your video last night. The only thing that puts me off is the break barrel action.

May i ask though:

with still being a newbie and not using a Weihrauch yet, do you think it's better going for a break barrel (which I'm used and familiar with) or the under lever, such as the HW97 MKII everyone praises?

I do like the look of the (Bull?) barrel and the stock on the 98 though.

Nah. You can't produce that kind of accuracy with a springer especially not with a break barrel.

Hi Grae,

 

To be fair any of them mentioned mate.

 

Both are very nice rifles, even better when tuned, probably the best they can be.

 

Its all down to what fits you best and feels the best in the aim.

 

For me the HW98 just seems an extension of my arm, and so part of my body, so feels the best. The HW97KT also fits me very well so I'm kind of lucky i suppose and can shoot both rifles and get decent results when i do my bit.

 

The break barrel is easier and quicker to load by a small margin though especially at night in the dark.

 

The thought about break barrels not being as accurate as a underlever in this case is wrong, and probably in many other cases too.

 

My HW98 seems to get as good a groups as my Ultra SE and HW100KT, but more often than the other 2 pcps, and it will as the 2 pcps have done put 3 pellets under a 5p at 55 yards.

 

Id say try them both Grae, but really think about getting which ever tuned.

Totally agree my s2 sfs 97 is just about run in and is bloody awesome !! I prefer shooting it to my pcp

Nice shooting si iv done this my self with the crow sport but iv not put it up on here as iv got a short temper and all the ridicule i would probably get .I know that this is possible and even at greater distances iv seen this done vislauk(SEAN) is a cracking shot with a springer Me not so but with the crow sport iv jelled and love this rifle im quiet confer-dent that you could do even better at bigger distance si you are that good mate .Any one even the worst shot in the world could pick up a pcp and be come a top shot but to shoot a spring rifle needs skill, determination and respect and most of all a different shooting technique of witch we all know you have with both pcp and springer s atvbmac :thumbs:

I've been using BSA's XL's and i find their break barrels fine and I prefer only loading when I need to take a shot- which are pretty silent with minimum movement too.

However, I'm more so in the market for an under lever or PCP but the 98 does my fancy too :-/

 

Ill pop down to SFS soon, just need to find someone to give me a lift ^_^
