One thing BQ estate are good at is skirting the truth. They said it was no space, the hastle of parking and stewards and it would suit them if it was a 2 day show. I was also told ( by Jo, the organi

As I said on an earlier post on here. I had tried on numerous occasions to make contact with the organisers to no avail. When I did finally manage to talk to them they asked me to do a show at the la

how much is it to get into the show or the game fayre ?

And not many dogs could be shown way racing going on next to the ring it would need to be further away from the ring where dogs can't see the others or we'd be listening to barking dogs and watching dogs skipping all over the place all day hate going to shows when they start racing before the shows finished

Understand what your saying  ....

But a rough time would suffice....

Racing away from the show etc....

But... if your not going a gamefair to buy anything....watch displays....etc.....

Your paying £12+ quid to go to a dog show...

Get my point?

Im not trying to be funny.... but i go a gamefair because i enjoy the day out.... with the family....

Not because i want to show or race the dog....

I know what you mean about the time but it couldn't be done every judge will take a different time to judge a dog and you would need pre entry and no entry on the day to know your numbers IMO it couldn't be done and if people didn't turn up it would mean standing about waiting for times for nothing or they would need to be overly kind with the judging time and it would mean if people didn't turn up etc others would be standing waiting for classes etc when it could be getting on way things.

It's not that I don't go to spend money it's just seldom there's something at a game fair now worth spending dosh on that i can't get cheaper anywhere on the net and a lot of the time we ain't talking a tenner difference. Last year at lowther 2 shirts and stuff to treat the boots if I had paid diesel and entry fee just for that I would have been mighty pissed off same with the Galloway think its been 4 years since I spent a penny in there because as a game fair it's a poor excuse and if I spent entry fee to buy gear or see somebody in a knight outfit ride round a ring I'd be pissed off big time. It's been a few years now since I paid into a game fair aswell. I know people like the day out watching main ring events etc and fair enough if I was going to watch all that and do a lot of shopping I'd leave the dogs in the house, for what they are they charge too much entry but when you go to the big t+l shows and meet up with old friends etc it makes it a good day out, didn't spend much at lowther this year but was a good day out AT THE SHOW because we met old pals and it was good to see working dog+ ferret stuff net making gear etc at shows again.

Youve not grasped my point again.....

12 quid entry to a gamefair..... 17quid at lowther..... + fuel.....food.etc.....

Even if you didnt buy anything.... £25/30+ quid entry for a couple.... more if youve got kids....

For a dog show?.....

If i wanted to meet up with people at a dog show..... id go to the local...and not so local ones.... theres hundreds around....

And theyre a great way of meeting people....without costing an arm and a leg to get in....

I have grasped your point, the class times is a silly idea and wouldn't work. £17 is expensive entry for what they are but I haven't paid entry into a game fair for a few years and i dont go to many because of their silly prices . I only go have a walk round them then go to the show. I take money but there never seems to be much to spend it on and the main ring events etc dont get my time of day I've sat in ditches with my fingers sticking to a barrel I don't need some guy with a mic to demonstrate to me how to shoot geese or whatever the only reason I go is have a quick walk round if nothing's doing hit the show and meet people you don't see often. Wether you just go for the show or go for the show a walk round and watch displays etc its still an expensive day say you're £50 for diesel then entry 2 adults 2 children you and dinner, I could think of better places to go and spend the dosh with my kids than a game fair. I have mates or people I know and have hunted with from all over so a meet down the local wouldn't cut it I seen people at lowther I haven't seen for a few years and it made the trek worth while, like I said if I paid entry for the stalls and the main ring events I would be pissed off but I don't I go for the show knowing fine well as a game fair they probably won't be up to much.

After twenty years of showing terriers paying to get in to a game fair and stuck at the terrier ring with two kids , we stopped showing the dogs and started going to see the gamefair i enjoyed it but its just too dear and to repetitive now , you can get the gear you want far cheaper on the internet and if these people that run the fairs dont wake up to that fact there on a slidey slope

Come on you were fed up judges trying to bend/wind you up with your Terriers :tongue2: but organisers need to see how they have let their side go stale money before what we want and expect to find :toast:

Can I point out to all that Galloway wanted me to put on a show at last minute after I had been trying for weeks to get a hold of them. They also wanted me to pay for everything, i.e. rosettes, prizes, trophies etc. which meant I would be running the show at a loss before I started. They did not want to give me free passes for people attending the show. I don't mind running a show and breaking even but to run one at a loss im afraid is a no go for me. Last year they paid for rosettes which helped. They also told me there was no parking facilities. I don't expect everyone to be hauling dogs around on leads all day. I am sorry but if they want me to run it in the future then I need a bit of support from them and this is the reason I have said NO SHOW.

P.S. I shall be contacting last years winners in order for them to return any trophies won and thank them in advance, Del.

ideally there should be rings outside a gamefair and there would be parking giving people that want to show there dogs a chance to go into the game fair if they wanted too but the organizers would see this as lost revenue . You can see what was happening when they changed the name from Game fair to Country fair
