Snoz 29
everyone likes to know how somethings bred to the extent that Im positive that most of the older lads on here wouldnt dream of rearing a pup that they didnt know how was bred and had seen the particular lines in action so dont take the stick seriously. What i would do is ask the guys whos names you've got who they got the terriers from originally and you may get names that are recognised. Some people breed off a bitch they have bought in and all of a sudden its their line. Quote Link to post

Thats all they are is names , no one kept any serious records in most cases. Just loose , it allways amases me how terriers from differant parts of the country still remain close to type looks wise when some are no relation what so ever , keeping a line ,type tight gets harder and harder i would like to think the reputation of a man who bred terriers way back was for his ablity to produce workers and not the type so on that basis x his terriers accordingly not for looks but to try and produce workers if you get my rammberlings lol Quote Link to post

From whogivesafookingshit old stuff lines Thats funny mine are bred the exact same lol. Names are just names exactly. You often hear of good dogs or bitches but then hear from others that they werent that great. Its all about the dogs that are doing the hard graft as we speak not the fact that they have big names behind them that were working ten or so years ago. If a dog is doin itsjob for you today and it comes from well bred dogs who are grafting away tried and tested who cares what names are behind it. Talk is easy and words are cheap Quote Link to post
wolfy 79
We bought a young black dog years back from a Pete Jackson, who was a bit of a dealer, my buddies weren't that arsed how he was bred , but I like to know where there from ? But all of my questions went unanswered and nobody excepted responsibility for breeding the animal ! Until he became outstanding , then everyone bred him. If you know it's parents that's all the breeding you can trust, so many made up stories. The old names parks, Gould ,nuttal etc are long gone years ago, I'm sick of hearing there names. My line are the best anyway £10000 a pup ,shitforengland line . Quote Link to post

deathsquad 9
john Harvey used to be a game keeper at dungavel in Scotland I used to do a lot of work for him on that estate he always had smooth coated patts and they were from nuttall lines but ive never heard of neilston lines mate but john stays in Girvan now hope this helps maybe try and get in touch with him think hes in the building game now this was about 20 years ago Quote Link to post
wolfy 79
Never exactly found the breeding out, I remember a red but know one ever mentioned him as his site? The dog in question was black ,Tom , owned by Neil and sold to a keeper around Shrewsbury. I would have bought him but Neil didn't offer him to me, even though I kennelled and worked him while Neil was away. Dogs of this calibre ,don't pop up to often. He sometime worked 3 days a week, in sizeable earths, there must be stuff out of him around the area. Cheers sorry to get away from original subject. Quote Link to post
