is it not the mitchell match with the auto bail arm :hmm:

I was over the moon with the first one of them i got, felt like i could catch bigger and better fish.

Used to have a pair of them ,twinned with the awesome power of my 10ft Normark Black Medallion 1 3/4 test curve rods, thought I was Rod Hutchinson :icon_redface: Used to be a common sound in the 80s,the flapping of the bale arm on the 300s and 410s mid cast as the spring failed :icon_eek::laugh:

I still have a 11foot black medallion a rod which holds a lot of memories for me, I must of had it nearly 30 years

I bought it brand new at a fishing auction for £10 about 1986-87 caught some very large pike on it and used it for light sea work, still original except the tip ring

I think mine was £25,but it was £28 for the 11fter :icon_redface: used mine a lot for carp/pike on the canal, had plenty of big fish on them, got to say although they look like bargepoles(particularly the 11ft  )they had a superb action on them,on the canal the maximum distance to set hooks/cast would be 15yds,so a soft actioned rod was the order of the day,I would struggle to find a similar tool nowadays, all compound/fast tapers, leading to more hook pulls at such close range
