KittleRox 2,147
wild caught in the mix ? - you're basicly correct mate, alot of the British folk are show men/women so adding wild caught to the mix would turn the clocks back, why catch wild birds ? I used to do it when I was a laddie Pete, it was pretty much one of my main hobbies along with ferreting climbing trees etc lol, I suppose its the primitive being in us, I kept them in aviarys for a few weeks then released them again, they never lost condition, not something I would do now though because I'm all grewn up
fireman 10,917
I'd say it likes the dogs really OP,bit like a few lads getting to go out with someone with a dog and having a bit of sport then they all want one and we all know the rest of the story with the merry go round and shite bred dogs that are about in to many numbers, well i'd say it's the same with the birds where folk are blagged into buying greypates for only a fiver and told breed them with canaries and your'll earn a bundle.Well they make the market for these birds of which most will die and i'll even say most kept in crap conditions and not given those needed extra's so the ones that maybe do live won't breed properly and hence end up being passed around just like the poor old dog.A legal rung captive bred goldie cock that has every chance of living a good long life serving dozens and i do mean dozens of hens during it's life and producing pure's,mules or hybrids and all for the price of £40 it makes me wonder why do they ever bother with wild birds in the first place anyway. Best £40 a man can spend if you ask me .
