From Field To Plate

Recommended Posts

Went back to the farm to night got there for 7pm checked the zero and she was a little high and a little to the left so i put her back to where she shood be and off i went in to the first field and up along the hedge line. And there was the first one but it ran so i squeaked it and it stopped stood up on its back legs but you could see it was nervice and ready to run so up with the raider and i let one go i saw the pellet part its fur on top of its head now that's one lucky bunny i thought to my self with a smile on my face off i went again and as i was just about to clime over a fence i saw the second one at about 40 yards just to the right and be hind a fence post. So i lent the rifle on one of the posts took aim and the pellet hit home nice head shot and over it went i saw the pellet strike home and saw it come out the other side but when i got to it it was gone there was a rabbit hole next to where it had landed so i surmise it went down there. Now that was two shots one miss and one kill but still no rabbits was this the way it was going to be for me to night then to top it off i was buzzed by the police helicopter it often fly,s over here but they must of got there eye on me ,a man with a gun in a field so it came over and hovered over me for a few mins so i gave them a wave and with that off they went . Im going home i thought to my self what a night all i need know is the armed response to turn up and top my night off but i had logged in with them . So off i went again the third rabbit i came across ran into the under growth so i lay down and waited for it to come back out i lay there looking up at the sky to see if the boys in blue were coming back and as i glanced back down mister bugs had came back out and was happily munching away at dead on zero witch was 27 yards (paced) so with the cross heirs spot on the kill zone i let a jsb 15,89 go and over it went not even a kick .Got one so with a smile on my face i took the photo and a photo of the part of the field that i lay in wait and a few more of the land scape and off i went again but this time with one rabbit hanging from my belt i saw a few more but could not get close enough and off they ran so over the next fence across the field and though the gate and the fourth was sitting about 30 yards away but it must of sensed me and off it went but as i took two or three steps out of the corner of my eye i saw one run so once again i squeaked it and it stopped and then it fell stone dead as the pellet hit home i went over and picked it up and pissed it i was just about to gut it when another one popped out of its hole so i slowly picked up the rifle took aim this one was sat at 50 yards(paced, must get a range finder all this pacing im doing) so mill dot selected off the jsb went and it hit the fence post behind the rabbit after it had gone through its head and with a back flip down it went but as i walked over to get it ,it kicked its self down it s hole I MUST WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE MOVED FAR ENOUGH FROM THERE HOLES as that's two lost and with that off i went back to the car packed up and headed for home washed the two that i got wrapped them in cling film and put them on the plate for the photo be fore i put them in the freezer hope you enjoyed the read and the photos going to have a cupa then load the car back up for an early morning shoot if i don't fall asleep first lol atvbmac

nice one mac, I had 'one of them nights' last night, shot a woody that I couldn't find, headshot at 37 yards into some bramble and nettles, I had a good look but couldn't find it! then shot a rabbit at 32 yards that wriggled itself down the hole, I know for a fact I whacked it in the brain, but it was a steep hole and my arm wasn't long enough to get the bunny out, I could see it in there but just couldn't reach,! gutted eh, 'Operation- rabbit stew sunday' isn't going according to plan so far. :cray::icon_eek:

Why did you not cut a length of bramble, stick it down the hole twist and pull the rabbit out?
