Whippet X Staff

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about breeding my staffy bitch to a whippet and I'm just wanting to see if any of you guys have any or any pics? Do you think a straight cross would be any good for ferreting?

The picture is my bitch. She's very slim and athletic for a pure breed staff. Hope the picture loads, I'm kinda new lol

Blackstaff of here done the same thing, she was a very athletic driven and already hunted(lamped, shot retrieve and a good ratter) she wasn't as bully as that but the 2 he kept out of the litter are 2 of the best rabbit/ferreting dogs I've seen.

Search on here for his pics or just pm him.

This is her

what qualities do you think she would bring to the mating???

Shes a very keen dog, shes goes out ratting and she is very quick for a staff. I think the picture make her look alot bigger thn what she really is. She can run all dog and fit as a fiddle

if it takes you fancy mate, fill your boots ! could be handy enough wee dogs and theres a lot of pleasure to be had from breeding your own.

True, but make sure you have homes for the rest of the litter, twice over first. Or be prepared to use the rest as land fill

The conformation of the Bedlington, in my opinion lends itself to be a more suitable mating to a Whippet,

And if its its for Rabbits and rats, then the Beddy cross should excell,

not the easiest to find a good working Bedlington, but they are out there.

Theres appears to be a good demand for Beddy X Whippets, and the 3/4 Whippet 1/4 Beddy.

So if breeding of good stock, less chance of being landed with the pups,

But like all breeding should be, unless the Bitch is an exceptional worker I would just look for a pup of the breeding you fancy.
