See heres the point with me ok its 3pm as you say so cubs or scouts come knocking i have a choice open door with my lets say dangerous dog left to roam lol ffs thats why some owners are wasters. I aint going to open door with dogs roaming being them as mastiffs or lurchers so.it not happen, so back to the 3am intruder fook him if my dog helps me my kids then dogs done its job.

So someone breaks into your house/kennels and your dog does it job so you get life and your all ok with that????

This is bollox 16 fatal maulings in eight years considering how many millions of dogs there are in this country that's bloody low statistics to base this on.

but its never a case of some one breaking into your house though is it .its always little kids and women .getting killed and torn apart by illegal type dogs owned by chavs thats running wild in the back yard knee deep in dog shit whilst hes in bed f****d up from the night before .you never hear of a lurcher or a spaniel killing any one .its always the same types with the same useless twats for owners .these people shouldnt be allowed one dog never mind three or four aggressive pit type and similar crosses living in the house with children having to compete for space and pecking order with them ,its a time bomb waiting to explode .more so when the idiots owning them spend more time and attention on the dogs than they do the children .and then you got the pusher who keeps em under the illusion that theyre going to stop old bill or any one nicking his stash .responsible dog owners dont get problems of this nature .nor does his kids get torn apart by his dogs .this law wont work simply because the dim wits keeping these dogs aint responsible enough to recognise the fact its a law aimed at them . theyl still keep the same types in the same enviroment

I go back to a point a while back again and again, if the local dog wardens did a job it could gives a heads up to who owns big, large, running of lead type dogs with owners who dont seem to have a clue what is safe and not safe but cutbacks stop this so laws being introduced seems the way to go nowdays.

As I said before in previous posts its been mainly family owned dogs within the family home,yes some are as you described but not all.

Still believe there's a bigger picture to look at here.

We would all agree with the law as in out of control dog in park kills a youngster. Job done dog gets p.t.s owner gets what he deserves. Let go back to 3am intruder gets jumped on by my lurcher the burglar stumbles falls bangs his head going down and died from the fall, am i going to be sent to prison for that? If yes then the laws crooked.

Let's get this into perspective the OP is about somone being penalised for not controlling an aggressive dog. The law is to stop f*cking idiots who use dogs as some sort of a dick extention, who have no concern for "little Tyson" other than to make sure he has a large studded collar so he can parade this unfortunate animal slavering ang pulling at the lead for all it's worth as the poor dog has known nothing but getting slap since being a pup.

 

I own a dog and even if somone broke into my house it's MY job to protect MY family I would not and do not expect my dog to do this and nor would he as he's not been trained to be aggressive in the slightest. If you own an aggressive dog then it is your responsibility to make sure that your dog cannot harm another person wether in or outsider your home.

 

To answer your specific question I suggest if somone broke into your home and intended to harm you or your family you have every right to defend yourself with every reasonable force, I would argue that using a knife, baseball bat or any other weapon including a dog if that is what you wish to use to defend your life then this would fall under this criteria of reasonable force.

To be fair, that's on average 2 FATAL killings a year for 8 years. I think ZERO is more than enough in any matter of time.

They had this coming.

No you won't, the law is quite clear. Many intruders over the past few years have been killed by the legal occupants of the houses they have broken into and the law has been quite sensible in all cases.
