Westy76 546
So someone breaks into your house/kennels and your dog does it job so you get life and your all ok with that???? This is bollox 16 fatal maulings in eight years considering how many millions of dogs there are in this country that's bloody low statistics to base this on.

How many of those 16 fatal maulings were intruders getting mauled by gaurd dogs? I'd hazard a guess none..........
Westy76 546
Doesn't matter but if this goes through and combined with the proposed DDA amendments dogs are fcuked and redundant. Look at the bigger picture.

Look at the bigger picture. I'm looking at the bigger picture, kids being killed by dangerous dogs is bigger than me having the right to let my dogs kill an intruder. I don't want or need a dog to kill an intruder.
Westy76 546
I'm all for punishing the crime on a case by case basis but not for a blanket one size fits all scenario if that makes sense.

I agree with you but just putting a blanket life sentence on all cases is wrong.
Born Hunter 17,832
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not a blanket life sentence, it's maximum of life sentence. Each case will be judged by the courts as with any other charge carrying life.
scothunter 12,609
all sentences carry a guideline for sentincing, its very seldom the max is ever given out.
Frann 882
Yeah I just heard on radio that different cases would be judged on their individual cases. For instance life imprisonment is one option, while 10 years is the maximum term suggested for the owner of a dog which injures a person or kills an assistance dog, such as a guide dog for the blind.
