spiderfly 111
Just wondering last season alot of rabbits and foxes in my area were lamp shy , Turn on the lamp and they would be gone, so was thinkin if you used a night vision cam to to spit the game and then switch on the lamp when your close enough to the game , has it been tried? The results? I know some ppl won't lik the idea but it gets annoying being out and gettin no slips at the game and just to point out there is a lot of fellas lampin around were I hunt ! bird 10,013
I tried the red filter a lot and works great, but stil some quarry keepin and running a mile away , good point banter with filters (any colour) they are good for a while, but as the season goes on , the game will shy away from any colour, once its had the lamp in its face few times. They are good for young+soft game, but a millon c/p lamp(any colour) will sooner or latter will get any game on its starting blocks 3 Quote Link to post

I know the wind doesn't always dictate that but some places you lamp the same way through habit. Try doing it in reverse etc. 1 Quote Link to post
Dubba 72
I've been using night vision for quite a few years with dog and rifle and it can work very well on Charlie. The problem is a lot of foxes aren't just lamp shy but shy to being called to as well. One of the problems I found when using NV/ lamp and dog when calling was keeping the dog calm and quiet. My dogs were pretty quiet but as soon as I would start to call the anticipation of there quarry getting closer would sometimes tip them over the edge. It's sounds like on your ground there's a fair bit of pressure so I would give the filters a try first. Just bare in mind with the NV monoculars theres a lot of shite on the market that will empty your wallet and not fill your game bag, most are only good for about 50 yards. Atb Quote Link to post
